Two Respected Surgeons Join Navigate’s Medical Advisory Board

Navigate Patient Solutions is excited to welcome two highly respected ophthalmologists; James Katz, MD and Caroline Watson, MD, to the Navigate Medical Advisory Board. Their experience and insight will help us continue improving how cataract practices educate patients about their lifestyle vision options.

At Navigate, our mission is simple:

Patients make better choices when they understand their options early. Surgeons get better outcomes when patients arrive prepared. Today, many patients hear about lifestyle lenses for the first time during a busy clinic visit. They feel unsure, rushed, and overwhelmed. Surgeons want to give patients the time and clarity they need, but clinic schedules make that difficult.
That’s why we move education upstream.

Our human Navigators call patients before their appointment to explain the procedure, review lens choices, and answer questions, always following the surgeon’s guidance. The result is a smoother, more confident experience for everyone involved.

Why Dr. Katz and Dr. Watson Matter to Navigate

Both surgeons bring valuable experience in premium cataract surgery, refractive technology, and patient communication. They understand the gap that exists in today’s cataract journey and why solving it matters to practices.

James Katz, MD

Dr. Katz is a recognized leader in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery at The Midwest Center for Sight. He has helped shape how surgeons adopt new technology and guide patients through complex decisions. His perspective will help us strengthen the clarity and accuracy of the Navigator call process.

“Helping patients understand their choices has always been central to good outcomes,” Dr. Katz said. “Navigate brings structure, consistency, and clarity to that process. I’m glad to help guide this important work.”

Caroline Watson, MD

Dr. Watson is a fellowship-trained cataract and refractive surgeon with deep experience in premium lens surgery, laser vision correction, and advanced anterior segment care. She is known for her calm, patient-focused communication style — a natural fit for Navigate.

“Patients want to feel prepared and supported before they walk into the clinic,” Dr. Watson said. “Navigate gives them that confidence. I’m excited to help bring education forward in the journey and help surgeons create a better experience.”

How Their Leadership Supports Surgeons

Dr. Katz and Dr. Watson will guide us in three key areas:

  1. Clinical accuracy: Ensuring patients receive information that is clear and aligned with each surgeon’s approach.
  2. Patient experience: Helping us refine how Navigators support patients emotionally and practically.
  3. Practice growth: Advising on how early education can strengthen a practice’s ability to serve more patients and expand their use of advanced technologies.

Their involvement reflects our commitment to being a trusted extension of every practice we serve.
